A clash between Mobile's energy storage tank community and environmental interests is expected to play out in the coming weeks over a proposed city ordinance regulating the storage of oil and other commodities within the Port of Mobile.

With 50 minutes to spare, a subcommittee of the Mobile Planning Commission wrapped up another meeting Tuesday held to allow public comment on regulating above-ground oil storage tanks in the city.

The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce presented Tuesday the findings of an independent study estimating the annual economic impact of the region's energy sector hovers between $4 billion and $5 billion.
