Keep Mobile Growing’s mission is to generate awareness and appreciation for this critical network of port-related industries, trades, and family-owned businesses, and to continue building Mobile’s and Alabama’s competitive marine-based trading advantage.

On behalf of the 453,253 employees of large and small businesses operating the seaport terminals and its associated network, we recognize that:
Businesses and industries should work cooperatively with our neighboring communities.
With Alabama’s only deepwater seaport terminals since 1711, Mobile has unique cultural heritage sites with direct ties to the water, such as Africatown. These sites form the strong foundation of the city’s rich history and should be respected and protected, and we are actively involved in doing so.
A competitive Port is critical for our region.
The Port of Mobile’s deepwater industrial complex provides jobs, a growing local economy and improved quality of life for the entire region, fueling $98 billion in economic value to our state and more than 351,000 jobs annually from a 5-mile stretch of the Mobile River shoreline.
Energy independence protects us locally, regionally and nationally.
America is embracing our growing energy independence like never before with renewables, coal and new discoveries of oil and gas reserves across the U.S. and Canada that fuel our economy and ensure our national security. The City of Mobile and our Port play a critical role in energy independence in our nation and region.
We must defend the competitiveness of Port-related businesses and industries, balanced with the protection of health, safety, the environment and cultural heritage.
Keep Mobile Growing supports policies and actions that promote the development and expansion of operations in a way that is protective of health, safety, the environment, and our heritage, and that prevent unnecessary restrictions that would put the Mobile area and our state at a disadvantage in competing with other ports around the country. Our members remain steadfast in exposing and preventing outside groups from advancing self-interested agendas that would harm our quality of life.
